About
Bruce Svela
|
|
Bruce Svela began playing drums in high
school when, as band leader, formed the popular group, Telstars.
In the late '60s, Bruce and his brother, Ron (band leader
and songwriter), formed the all original band known as Fringe
Benefit and became Crystal Ballroom's house band.
It wasn't long before they began opening for national acts
such as, Grateful Dead, Country Joe and Fish, Quick Silver,
Messenger Service and many others.
In the 70's, Bruce formed an 8 piece horn band titled Jamm
& Co. including Jimi Lund and Larry Congram.
This high energy show band went on tour for two years playing
all over the U.S.

Following Jamm & Co. Bruce assembled a series
of variety bands that principally focused on private corporate events.
In early 1990, Bruce formed a 10 piece funk band with a four piece
horn section known as the Perfect 10 - and "perfect"
they were. This band focused on the music of Cold Blood, Chicago,
Earth Wind and Fire, and Tower of Power. The band enjoyed a great
deal of success in the Northwest, particularly when Eddie McGee
joined as lead singer. (Eddie was formerly the lead singer for Tower
of Power and was best known for the national hit -"Nothing
Stopping Me Now".)
The Perfect 10 continued opening for national acts - including Billie
Preston, the Kingsmen, The Animals, etc. - for several years until
1996 when Jimi Lund formed The Bluesmasters, with Myrtle Brown.
Bruce Svela and Jimi Lund have been performing together for over
37 years. These two consummate professionals and performers bring
the type of energy and enthusiasm rarely seen in today's players.
In Bruce's own words: "The Jimi Lund Band is without a doubt
the
most dynamic, soulful band to date. I believe our combined energy
levels are at the height of our careers and we simply can't wait
to
share with folks everywhere what 37 years of playing together can
do for an audience!"
